St. Albans Fire Department Set to Hire Probationary Firefighters

St. Albans, West Virginia – The St. Albans Fire Department is excited to announce that it will be conducting a competitive examination to maintain a current list of applicants for the position of Probationary Firefighter on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. at the Hansford Center, located at 500 Washington Street, St. Albans, West Virginia.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in joining the St. Albans Fire Department, a respected and dedicated team of first responders. As a Probationary Firefighter, you will have the chance to learn from experienced professionals and be part of a team that works tirelessly to keep our community safe.

To be eligible for the written examination, applicants must obtain an application at the City Clerk’s Office at 1499 Maccorkle Avenue and return it no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023. All applicants must attach copies of their valid driver’s license, high school diploma/G.E.D. or certified high school transcript, and birth certificate (must be a US citizen) to their application.

The physical capacity examination will follow the written examination, and information regarding the test will be provided upon completion of the written exam. It is important to note that latecomers will not be permitted to test.
